Things started out slow the morning of January 1st. I received a text from my sister, Esther, inviting me to go biking with her. We both donned our gear hit the street--only to find that her bike's tires were pretty much shot. Hence--no biking. Then, I ended up spending most of the day on the computer--UNTIL--around 6:00 pm. I pulled myself together and went to the gym and swam one mile. Yea!!! Esther, checked it out on the internet as to how many regulation pool lengths are in one mile. The answer: 66 lengths (that would be 33 laps or round trips). I completed my one-mile swim in 50 minutes. This is much improved from the summer, when Esther and I first started out "lapping it up" in our community pool, which is approximately half the length of a regulation pool. It was all I could do to swim three lengths!!! Now I'm doing 66 regulation lengths. If feels great--so invigorating.
Before I began my swim, I weighed myself. My weight on January 1, 2009, was...(drum roll, please...) 144.5 lbs. That's actually pretty danged good for me, considering all the Christmas goodies I've been eating. I'm sure the reason why I am down in weight is (1) because I did not lose momentum during the holidays with my exercise regimen, and (2) the doctor took me off of my thyroid medicine, since my levels are now normal. Yea to that, as well.
Altogether, I've lost a total of 54 lbs. Yes, folks, I was pushing 200 lbs--a lot for anybody, but especially a lot for a 5-foot tall female. My goal for this and next month is to reach 135 by February 1st--then at least maintain that up to my birthday (which is the 26th). If I lose more--all the better!
The purpose of my blog here, is to help keep me on track with my progress in achieving my goal. I invite you all to share in my progress.
